The Joy of Working

The Joy of Working, Feng Shui May Be the Path to Office Harmony

April 2000

Memphis Business Journal

Back in 2000 when I first began my feng shui practice full-time, I was interviewed by the Memphis Business Journal and was on their cover for that month.  I was excited feng shui for business piccoming out of the corporate world into the life of an entrepreneur to have this coverage .  I had been helping my friends for over a year at no charge who had businesses with the new feng shui knowledge I had gained.  Their results were astonishing.  With few techniques I suggested, their businesses turned around over night.  I was excited to begin helping others.

Having spent the previous 18 yrs. in medical sales as a highly  successful sales rep, manager, and leader, I knew I could  help lagging businesses.

I am a problem solver and  like combining East and West methods or using as many tools as possible to solve a situation.  I love helping businesses  make money and achieving their ultimate goal of being happy with what they are doing for a living.  14 yrs. later I am still doing the work I love. Whether you work in an office or out of your home, if you are not reaching your goals, there are solutions.

Here is the article that was published:

Whether it’s called science, philosophy, psychological ecology or superstition, the ancient Chinese practice of feng shui is gaining fans in the Western corporate world.

Feng shui, which is pronounced fung shway, is a 3,000-year-old belief tied to Tao, the process that links man and the universe to chi, or cosmic energy.

Asian businesses and government agencies routinely call in feng shui consultants to ensure that the lighting, furniture, doors, colors and shapes in a room make up a harmonious whole, enabling chi to flow freely and bring good fortune and high morale to employees.

Chase Manhattan Bank in Hong Kong, Citibank in Singapore and Morgan Guaranty Trust in Taiwan are just a few of the corporations that have enlisted feng shui consultants to create a design conducive to productivity and prosperity.

And Donald Trump made the news a few years ago when he hired a feng shui consultant to work on his New York property

Lately, the practice has been making a more visible entry into American offices.

“Five years ago, I was getting a lot of calls from within the holistic health community,” says Belinda Mendoza, a Memphis feng shui consultant and owner of  Design For Energy, an interior and landscaping design business using feng shui.

“Eventually I started doing workshops and speaking on the topic and architects, bankers and attorneys would come forward and express interest in getting a space that would help them make money,” she says. “I’ve definitely started getting more calls from businesses.”

The American Feng Shui Institute in Monterey Park, Calif., has seen enrollment in its training classes reach 140 last year, compared to just a handful in 1991.

The roster of consultants listed in FengShuiDirectory.com now includes more than 250 practitioners since the directory went online in 1998.

And several books targeted to managers and employees on how to harness feng shui’s force have been published.

Feng shui bracelets of different colors representing harmony-inducing emotions like strength and vibrance have even begun showing up at department stores this season.

Mendoza studied feng shui long before it started becoming a trend for residential and office design at Omega Institute in New York in the early 1990s.

In 1996 she took the opportunity to spend a month in China studying feng shui under one of the country’s top instructors at the University of China in Wuhan.

Feng shui, which means wind and water, was used by Chinese farmers who observed nature to determine the best place to plant their crops, Mendoza says.

“Wind and water are two elements that flow, so if you have these natural elements within your environment you’re going to be mimicking nature.  When there is good flow like in nature, you release blocks to your success” she says.

A key element of the feng shui philosophy has to do with eliminating clutter and obstacles.

While mirrors open up a space to create better energy flow, they shouldn’t be placed near a messy desk or cubicle.

“If your desk is messy, having a mirror there mentally doubles your work, which creates stress,” she says. “In feng shui, we really do stress that people address clutter and chaos in an organization.”

Another key piece of advice feng shui consultants are likely to give businesses is to physically position employees in a place within the office that makes them feel empowered.

If you are not making money in your business today, call me, I can help.  I offer a Free 30 minute phone assessment to determine your needs.  We have different pricing packages.

Wishing you good fortune and happiness.

2014 Cures Packet for Success!

Well, its been a wild ride so far into this New Year of the Horse.    I had been busy the whole month of January and February with helping clients update their homes or businesses with 2014 cures.  We all find we do better with them.  Energies  shift each year and some are not so good.  We, in feng shui believe we can mitigate the bad and enhance the good ones with the Flying Star System.Horse

If you practice Black Hat Sect or Western Feng Shui, you won’t need to  worry about this, but if you practice Flying Star, Compass or Time Space Feng Shui (all the same thing), then you will want to implement these.  In my practice I have found these profoundly effective.  Even if you are a novice but know how to use a hiker’s compass or your Iphone/Android compass app, you can do this.

I basically summarize the information down to just the application part.  I have  also added a resource where you can find many of the cures.  It is a store I created on  amazon.

Go to:    http://astore.amazon.com/designforener-20.  Just order from there.  I will continue to update this throughout the year.  Its to give you ideas and suggestions.  Amazon pulls from all the asian websites and their prices are great.

So here you go:  You will need to know the directions of your space.  Stand outside your front door with your compass and take a reading.  With your phone, place it in front of you.  Once you know what direction your house is facing then you can apply the rest.

2014 flying star chart

Let’s Start with the Challenging Stars.  You need to place a cure in the direction of the four bad afflictions this year which are SE, E, NE, and NW.  The direction, problem, and cure are listed.

Southeast  3 Quarrel Star

Gossip, lawsuits, slander, politicking, legal disputes. Depression for women.  Arguments for teenagers.

Needs  fire so lights, red colors, red crystals, red quan yins, red happy buddhas.  Since it is money sector, money frog, dragonturtle, or wealth vase (place things with money in a vase, bowl, or jar).

East 2 Black Illness Star

Needs 6 rod metal windchime; 6 chinese coins, moving metal; wu luo gourd; Salt water cure here.

Northeast  7 Robbery Star

Very serious energy for violence, theft, and deception.

Needs water.  Add Blue rhinos, water, or water figures.  Keep quiet.

Northwest  Danger 5 Yellow Star

Severe injury, mishaps, accidents, money loss.

Add moving metal, 6 chinese coins, windchimes. Wu luo gourd. No candles, loud noise, or disturbance.  Salt water cure here.

Good Stars!

Enhance your space with these highly positive stars.  Use these areas as much as possible.

South- 8 Wealth Star

Great opportunity and success and wealth luck.  Benefits for education and writers and advancement.  Grand Duke moves in this sector so no digging up the earth or major remodeling in the area this year.

Needs earth.  Add crystals, feng shui gem or crystal trees, and lights, wealth vase, prosperity frog, or  Dragon turtle.

Center- 4 Sexy Luck Star

Romance, Love, sales, PR, marketing, and writing opportunities.

Add water symbols, fish, conch, shells,  symbols of double happiness, pairs of mandarin ducks, love birds, rose quartz, or  lucky bamboo, to bring in love and creative or educational benefits.  Activate Love with compatible animal.  4 Peach Blossom Animals:

Here is your peach blossom sign and the sign to activate it:

Rat, Dragon, and Monkey is  Rooster

So, if you are a Monkey, add a Rooster to the center of your home for more romance luck.

North- 9 Purple Luck

This star muliplies good luck.  Good luck for business.  Good luck for pregnancy.  It is also the location of the 3 Killings so do not have your back to this direction.

Promote with flowers, symbols of wealth, or red objects.  Add wealth bowl, elephants, gold coins, gold  or jade buddhas, prosperity frogs, dragonturtles, lucky bamboo, or crystal trees.

Southwest- 1 White Good Fortune

Triumph, promotion, opportunity, beating the competition.

Tips:

Use a good compass.

When applying cures you make or buy yourself make sure you stay close to the element needed.  Water, Metal, Earth, Fire, etc.

Determine your home’s facing direction to start.

Smudge or wash any old cures from last year if you are re-using them.

Write New Intentions for 2014

Place an Intention when you apply any cure.  If you place a blue rhino, say, “I am safe and protected all year”.

*For directions on how to create a salt water cure, read our earlier blog,   https://diyfengshuitoday.wordpress.com/2014/01/27/secret-salt-water-cure-needed-for-2014/

If you need help, we are here for you.  We can do phone consults or on-site visits to help you implement these.  It is best to do these at Chinese New Year but anytime is good.  Sooner the better into this year will bring you more success.

Our After New Year Special:

Implement 2014 Cures- $375.00.  This is far less than a full feng shui consultation yet can energize and help you attract success in 2014.  It is a 2 hr. session.

Phone sessions:  $175.00 an hour.

Happy Year of the Horse.  May it be joyful and abundant in everyway!

Secret Salt Water Cure Needed for 2014

Powerful Salt Water Cure Needed for 2014

As we approach Chinese New Year at the end of this week, its  time to get rid of the old salt water cures.  They have done their work for you in 2013.  Pour the water out in toilet or sink.  Put remainder with coins and all in a plastic bag with a tie and throw in the trash.  Make new ones.  Make this week count. Clean your house, de-clutter, put up your 2014 feng shui flying star cures. Do some smudging of your space for new beginnings.  If you need help applying the cures, let us know and we can come out and help you anytime in February or March.  All of these things will help to make this your best year ever!

There are two main areas that need the strong cures like Salt Water:   Sickness and Disaster, located this year in the East and Northwest.  Besides the 2014 cures you  may have already placed like a 6 rod windchime, you need this very powerful Salt Water Cure.  It was known only to be used by very experienced masters.  It is now a popular feng shui cure used to neutralize the potentially negative effects of challenging feng shui annual stars in a home or office.  In recent years, the remedy has been posted on the internet.  With concern for the proper use, consultants have been trained to use it and now offer it to their clients.  I pass it on to my clients and feng shui students each year.

This feng shui cure is usually used for feng shui star # 2 and star # 5 (some feng shui practitioners also use it for star # 3). As each of these negative feng shui stars are of an element that is weaker than metal – # 2 and # 5 are earth, while # 3 is wood – a strong metal cure is used to weaken their energies, thus their negative effects.

Be sure to have some understanding of  the annual stars  feng shui info, as well as the basics of the flying star school of feng shui, as this will give you a better feel for the use of the salt water cure.  Check out the Idiot’s Guide to Feng Shui for more info.on compass or flying star feng shui.  Despite the title , it is a great book on explaining the system.

Basically, if  in any given year these “unlucky”  stars – # 2, #3, or #5 – are located in your bedroom, your kitchen, your living room or your front door (as well as any other areas you spend a lot of time in, such as the home office, for example), then you can use the salt water feng shui cure to negate the bad energy.

However, if these stars are located in an area with a closet,  a bathroom, a storage area, or just an empty, unused space in your home or office, then you might not need to apply the feng shui salt water cure.

In order to avoid confusion, it is important to understand that this cure is used by the Flying Star school of feng shui which calculates the yearly movements of the beneficial and not so beneficial feng shui energies (stars). This cure is rarely used by other feng shui schools.

However, as with any other popular cure, understanding its essence is a big part of achieving success with feng shui.  So, why is the salt water cure considered powerful?

Salt is an ancient mineral with precious properties, including strong cleansing properties, and it has been used in various cleansing rituals since very old times. Salt is also used in various body purification treatments and massages, as it has the ability to absorb the negative, dull, low energies, thus leaving the energy fresh and pure.  Old salt mines have been  used to store unused nuclear materials for their neutralizing effects.

In simple terms, the salt water feng shui cure combines the strong purifying effects of salt and water combined with the chemical reaction between metal and salt (as you will see, the metal element is present in this cure with the use of Chinese coins.)

Salt that is used for purification is not to be consumed; and in feng shui this cure is discarded after a specific amount of time, usually after one lunar year. A new salt water cure is usually placed in a home or office before the Chinese New Year.

The look of this feng shui cure will change in time, especially if there is a lot of negative energy in the space. The container will have a build-up of salt crystals overflowing its edges, in some cases quite a thick build-up, so many people change this cure more than once a year.

If you are interested in the salt water feng shui cure, and feel that your home might benefit from it, here are the basic instructions for creating and using one.

ITEMS YOU NEED FOR THE SALT WATER CURE:

– Salt (ideally high quality rock salt or sea salt)
– A Container (16 oz. or larger glass, porcelain or metal.  Jelly and mason jars work great)
– 6 Chinese Coins (made from brass)
– Water (to fill 3/4 of your chosen container)
– A protective mat, or a stand.

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Fill your chosen container with salt up to 3/4 of its capacity.
2. Place the 6 Chinese coins on top of the salt; the coins should be placed with the Yang side up (the side with the four Chinese characters).  I have used nickels, pennies, quarters, dimes, before.  If so, use five pennies and a dime or five pennies and a nickel.
3. Add filtered or bottled water to fill the container to the top.
4. Place the container on a protective mat, or stand in the home area where you need the cure.
5. The salt water cure container should be left open, do not cover it or place it in a covered space, such as a kitchen cupboard, for example.

PLACEMENT SUGGESTIONS:

  • Place your salt water cure in an area where you know the container will be safe, i.e. not tipped over, moved or otherwise tampered with. Usually a room corner works well.
  • If you do not like the look of the salt water cure (it will change even more in time); be sure to place it behind a decor object so that your feng shui cure is not visible. For example, you can have your salt water cure behind the sofa, a screen or a big lush plant.
  • You should be able to have access to your salt water cure in order to add water as needed.

HOW TO DISPOSE YOUR SALT WATER CURE:

  • Because the feng shui salt water cure will absorb and accumulate a lot of negative energy, care should be taken with its disposal. Do not cleanse the bowl and the coins, but rather properly discard the whole cure.

The feng shui salt water cure is usually used in tandem with other metal cures, because the ill effects of the flying stars # 2, # 3 and # 5 are destroyed by metal. So, feng shui cures such as a 6 hollow metal rod wind chime, a metal Wu Lou (Chinese gourd) or metal bowls are often used in addition to the salt water cure in order to achieve best results.

The use of number 6 – as in the number of Chinese coins for the salt water cure, as well as the number of metal rods in the wind chime – is based on the fact that in feng shui, 6 is considered to be a number with strong metal essence. (See the I Ching trigrams of the Bagua with 6 in the Chi’en trigram, a metal element trigram).

This is about all you need to know to create a feng shui salt water cure!

Feng Shui Tips to Prepare for A Successful New Year!

Well, another year is leaving us, the year of the Snake.  It was filled with some great things but also some real challenges.  Auto-Coins goldimmune issues, viruses, tsunami’s, floods, etc.  The coming 2014 will be gentler and more optimistic.  More on the year of the Horse in our January Blog.

To prepare for this exciting year it is important to look at what we have accomplished so far and to be grateful.  It is a time of reflection.  We spend a lot of time in December with holidays that we can forget what the end of the year represents.  It is a time of letting go.  The Snake year of 2013 was all about shedding the skin.  We must also  have good feng shui going into the new year to have success.

Here are some Key Feng Shui Tips for “Shedding the old and making way for the New Year”:

1) Burn what you don’t want in 2014.  Write down everything you don’t need or want in the new year and burn it.  Do this alone or with a friend.  Seeing it burn helps you release  it.

2)  De-clutter.   In feng shui, a big concept is clutter.  While not a term in classical feng shui as 4,000 yrs. ago people didn’t use that word, too many objects in an area were still known to stop energy flow.  Objects have energy and too many can cause stagnation.  Clutter holds us back. It is as if we had a huge boulder in front of us not allowing us to pass.  Clutter can be with  clothing, emails, and  people as well.

 3) Pick a life area to improve.  Everything is about energy and in feng shui everything means something.  Begin with getting rid of anything you don’t need or love or want to bring into 2014.  This can be a big job if you have not been doing this all year.  So pick a life area you want to improve or grow and work on it first.

4) Write an Intention around  your desires.  ” I have a great career” or “I have plenty of money to do all I want.” This action sets things in motion.

5) Have good Chi Flow.  Do you know how to tell if your house has good chi flow?  Imagine water flowing into your home through the front door.  Are there areas that would hold water or be stagnant?  Are there areas in the home  where the water would flow smoothly.  This indicates that chi would flow that way as well.

6) Clear Your Space.  Do some smudging with a sage bundle stick or some essential oil sprays.  Open up doors and windows while doing this process.  This helps the space feel fresh and new again.

7) Move some things around.  If your 2013 wasn’t all you wanted it to be, move some things around.  Moving causes change.

8) Set the stage for Success.   Set up your office in the most professional and elegant way possible if you want more business and to attract wealthy clients.  Set up your bedroom so it feels nurturing and loving if you want a relationship.  Act as IF.

2014 Year of the Horse flying stars and forecasts are coming soon.  You will be able to remedy your home or enhance it with the cures we will provide in January so you can have the most successful year ever!  Be on the watch by either signing up for our newsletter on our website, http://www.designforenergy.com or signing up for our Blog.  Please share our Blog with your friends.

Join us for our Annual Abundance Class where you can bring your floorplan and we can install 2014 cures right on site.  Saturday, January 25th.  1pm to 4pm.  $75.00 in advance or $85.00 at the door.  Pay by paypal on our website.  More details there and on your Jan. blog.

Feng Shui Tips for Halloween In Style

How will you spend this year’s Halloween?  I usually take some kids trick or treating in the neighborhood for a couple of hours.  We then go out for pizza or hamburgers.  They enjoy the experience, don’t  get too much candy and are home early.  You might be having a party at your home or going out to someone’s event.  You don’t have to ruin your feng shui just because its Halloween.  Death, skulls and crossbones, are not the only images or ways of decorating.

If decorating your home, here are some Tips for having a Powerful and Magical Halloween Night:Halloween Door Mat

1)Use fiery oranges to bring in prosperity.

2)Use Black as in a black wreath on the door for some “watchful energy”.

3) Black Metal  Jack O’ Lanterns can ground energy.

4) Use Feathered Owls.  Yes, they may look spooky but add protection to your house.  Place near front door.  Gargoyles also work.

5) Buy a Halloween Door Mat.  Some scary or haunting images are good for warding off negative energy.

6) Use hollowed out pumpkins as candles in the center of the home.  They can bring a sense of calmness to the room.  You can then use them at Thanksgiving too.

7) Using metallics like gold and silver in with your blacks and oranges are great for that shimmery, glowing effect  that adds energy to your home.

We will be in Mercury Retrograde so take extra precautions while driving to parties or  trick or treating with kids or pets.   No reason though to not   have fun and make this a magical night!

Warmly,

Belinda Mendoza

Practical Tips for Fall De-Cluttering and Abundance

Hello Feng Shui Clients, Friends, and Feng Shui Enthusiasts:

I am so happy it is Fall.  We live in the South Central part of the US, based in Austin, Texas so it’s often hard to tell when it really starts.  But,if we go by seasons, we know it begins inFall Leaves September.  In the art of feng shui, Spring represents new beginnings.  Summer is planting the seeds for the harvest.  Fall is reaping in the harvest.  Winter is hibernation, slowing down, to prepare for things to rise up again and bloom in Spring.  They all have a different energy, color, and meaning.

Spring – Greens, browns, woods

Summer – Bright yellows, Oranges,  FIery Reds

Fall – Autumn Colors like burnt oranges, dark reds, browns, golds, yellows

Winter  -blacks, blues,purples,metallics

I love Fall for the wonderful brisk, cool temperatures,  and activity that begins the holiday season.  It is also a big dog month in our city and with the great weather, it is a chance for us dog lovers to get out and enjoy time outside with our furry friends.

I also get excited because it’s the second time in a year I do some major de-cluttering.  I know that sounds strange to be thrilled about this process.   I always feel so good after I have worked on a key area of my life.  Yes, I de-clutter all year long, but in Fall, I get into my old clothes, put some music on, dedicate a whole day in nice brisk weather, and clean out my garage.  It is where the overflow from the house goes leading to the next step…. charitable groups.  In one school of feng shui, your garage is a life area or an extension of the area inside.  This is especially important if you use the garage to enter your home.  It becomes the “mouth of chi”, or where maximum energy flow enters your home.   It is important that it is open, organized, clean, and fresh.   Your Mantra:  less clutter, more flow.

I like to have everything organized and labeled if it is something I will keep.  The get rid of pile is neatly set up so it is ready when I need to deliver or have someone pick up the things.  If it’s not been used in a while, I get rid of it.

Here are my Key Tips for Preparing for Fall and Inviting More Abundance: Coins gold

1)  Pick a good day where you have no disruptions to do your fall de-cluttering.  A good weather day will allow you to open up windows and give the house a chance to breathe.

2) Get a friend or a professional organizer to help you if it’s a big challenge for you.  You can get things knocked out quicker this way too.

3) Pick an area like your garage, your yard shed, your attic, your kids room, your office, etc.  Don’t try to do the whole house.  One area a weekend works best if you want to do that process.

4)  Each room in your home has meaning.  Bedrooms for relationship/partnership;  Bathrooms for health;  Office for business:  Attics represent aspirations; cellars or basements are the past, etc.  So whatever you clean out will open up energy for those life areas.

5) Get rid of anything you have not used in over a year.  Donate it, give it away, or sell it!  This will move energy and allow more things to come your way.

6) Clean the area thoroughly to get rid of dust.  Dust is stagnant energy.  Don’t put things back unless you have dusted or washed them.

7) Celebrate your accomplishment with a friend or family member to herald in “new beginnings”.  Its good luck and keeps you motivated.

I guarantee you will not only feel better after but things in your life will being to happen magically.  The Fall energy is one of reaping the harvest.  Symbolically, it is  an accumulation of all you have done all year.  Some people’s businesses slow down at this time or stop.  This is because they have allowed clutter to build up.  There is plenty of abundance energy all around you at this time so take advantage of it now!  If you need to reach me, I’ll be in my garage!   🙂

Prosperous Blessings,

Feng Shui Tips for Attracting Powerful Mentors

Why do we need mentors?  It is how we learn.  They are our role models.  Hopefully, we attract powerful, successful, happy, and positive ones.  They can affect our lives in such amazing ways, we want to be sure we are inviting the best.

We also want to be sure we have enough people around us to support and help us besides family members and friends.  If we lean on someone too much, we drain their energy.

In the art of Feng Shui, Mentors/Helpful people are considered a vital part of our success in life.  Without people in our lives to aid, help, support, make us grow, we don’t live a balanced life.

Here are a few key Feng Shui Tips for Attracting Powerful Mentors:Mentor

1)Activate the Northwest part of your home with metal or water elements.  This is the area of the Feng Shui Bagua (life map), that is considered to affect helpful people.

2) Add grays, blacks or whites to this area.  These colors represent metal which will activate the area.  Maybe a painting, vase, cloth, etc. in those colors.

3) Place something that reminds you of mentoring or being helped.  Perhaps a picture of a powerful person you admire, a spiritual icon, etc.  See yourself being helped and guided in your goals.  Maybe take a picture from a magazine of someone surrounded by successful people and being happy.  Place a picture of yourself in that scene.  Quan Yin is used in feng shui for her compassionate healing energy so if you want to attract that in your life, you could place her in this area.

4)Write an Intention.  Intentions create movement as well.  Write things like,” I have plenty of supportive people in my life and all the help I need”.

5) Make a Decision to only be around those who “lift you up” and support you.  Wish the others well but move along.  You deserve to have people in your life who want to give to you not take.

6) Take Action.  Seek out those you would love to be like.  Take someone you admire out for tea or coffee.  Ask them if they would share their expertise with you.

7) Have a Resource List.   Make a list of lawn care, housecleaning, dog sitter, a/c person, painter, etc….  all those people who can help to make your life easier.  Place it on your fridge or somewhere you can see it.  It will remind you that you have all the help you need at your fingertips.  They are just a phone call away.

6)  Become a mentor.  I mentor in the Big Sister Program.  I grew up the eldest and only girl.  I had no mentors until I was 40 yrs. old!  I did not grow up being taught to look for those you would model yourself after and ask them for help.  I would have loved a big sister or someone I could bounce things off of while I was growing up.  Parents can be mentors but often times an unbiased opinion is needed.   By mentoring someone or being a helpful person in someone’s life, you will always have those people in yours.  It is natural law.  It is not why you do it, but it just happens energetically.

Keep in Mind…

Be that which you wish to have in your life.   Don’t allow anyone in your life that does not add to your energy.  Seek out dynamic, successful and happy people to learn and grow. Successful people are usually more than happy to share their stories, resources, and expertise.  Having lunch with someone who is always complaining about not having people in their lives, having to do everything themselves, is not good for your morale.  They need your energy to feel good.

By the same token, when seeking out mentors, be sure to be mindful of their time and space.  It is a gift they are giving you.  Cherish it, don’t abuse it or them.  Don’t be a taker but a giver.  Let them know how much you appreciate them and their time.  Do something nice for them.  If a business person, you can ask if they are on Yelp or Google as you would be happy to leave them a review.

Wishing you and yours powerful, positive, and helpful people in your life always,

In today’s world many have fears about things that go on outside their home or business.   Television,  social media, internet,  can all feed into this.    Limit your exposure to these if you already are a fearful person.   Whether its neighbors, people driving by, those visiting the home to perform services,  or people who visit, we don’t need to live in fear.  We need to feel safe. Doing whatever it takes to achieve that end is important to inner peace and well-being.

It of course first begins with you.  The first thing to do is identify the fear.  Is it real or imagined? Is it based on a prior experience that you are bringing into your new environment?  If it is something you carry with you wherever you go, you can still do the things feng shui suggests, but do get help from an experienced counselor or therapist.  If you cannot sleep or are anxious all the time, it can be a sign of a deeper issue within you that needs healing.

Secondly, get an alarm system for your home, guard dogs, or a neighborhood watch started.  In feng shui, you can place cures, but you also have to take action.

Have your neighbors, fire, police, and ambulance numbers clearly displayed where you can access them quickly.

Make sure your fire detectors and fire extinguishers work well.

If  you are not fearful but cautious and smart, the following tips can also help you feel protected.

Here are some Powerful Feng Shui Symbols For Protection  to Place in Your Home or Business:bagua mirror

1)  Place Asian Foo Dogs in the foyer/entry of your home or business facing towards the door.  These act as protectors.  They were used to guard the Emperor’s palaces 4,000 yrs. ago.foo dogs

2) Place a Feng Shui Bagua Mirror over your front door if you want to ward off negative energy.  It acts as a mirror reflecting back anything unwanted.  NEVER place these inside the space.  This year homes in the East, West,  and Southwest according to flying star feng shui, really need them to avoid sickness and violence.

3 )Place a spiritual icon of your choice in the Northeast Corner of your home or space facing into the room.  An angel, a cross, a saint, a buddha, Ganesh, a strong animal figure, etc.  Northeast is considered the spiritual corner in Black Hat Sect Feng Shui.

4 )Wear a spiritual pendant with some metal in it.  You can wear a metal cross with a ribbon or leather tie or a metal chain with a crystal.  The key is having something metal on it.  This year the Snake,  metal is helpful.

5) Carry a red amulet in your purse, briefcase, or luggage when traveling.  This can be a small quan yin, buddha, angel, red heart, etc.  This can help you when traveling or working outside the home or office.Quan Yin

Feng Shui Tips For Changing Careers

When you have lost a job or been laid off, it can be the most stressful time because you were not prepared for it.  If you see it as an opportunity for newer and better things, you can attract even more success and fulfillment.Career pic

Sometimes we want a new career due to a lifestyle change or we are just plain tired of what we have been doing?  We want things like more money,  fun,  creativity, or a different work environment.  Whatever the reason, it is your soul’s calling, your inner passion, your higher self, trying to get your attention.  It is saying, “look alive, there is something better on the horizon and its on its way”.

I have always loved the phrase,  SUCCESS HAPPENS WHEN…. “OPPORTUNITY MEETS WITH PREPARATION”.

When I decided to leave my corporate job of over 15 yrs. it was a very hard decision.  While I made great money,  I knew I wanted something different, more creative, more empowering.  I felt my skills were not appreciated and I was overworked.  I traveled extensively and wanted a break.  I made the decision to leave and have not looked back.

Here are some Feng Shui things I did that made that transition easier and more successful.

1) Make a Decision and Stick with It.   Once I decided to leave, I was steadfast knowing there would be people like my sales force, my bosses, my friends, parents, etc.  trying to talk me out of it.

2) Get Support.  I went to a career therapist/coach before I resigned.  You could have a good friend, a mentor, or someone in your networking group you can run your ideas by.  Make sure they are positive people who are already successful and happy in their careers who will support your change.

3)Have a Lifeline.  Make sure you have enough funds to support your change.  Maybe you try a new career because  it is really what you want to do but the pay is lower than you are used to.  You might not take it because you did not allow yourself some elbow room to live while you build up your savings.  Severance pay, savings, a spouse’s income, etc. Leaving a job with no parachute is incredibly stressful and will make a new career or a self-employment opportunity difficult to take off.  I had two years of living expenses in savings to live on if I made no money in my new endeavor.  Fortunately, I did not need to use it.  This is different for everyone.

4) Feng Shui Your Space.  Once I decided to leave, I removed all things in my home office from my past.  Old sales awards on the wall, books, tapes, files, etc. from my old company.  I “cleaned house”.  I put up things for the new opportunity as a Feng Shui Consultant.  I had a print of an article that had recently been written on me.  I framed it and put it on my South wall (Fame).  If  looking for a new job, find a posting of an ideal job with right pay, location, etc.   Print it out and post it on the South Wall of your office.  See that job as yours!

Within days of my resigning, I got a call from a client who landed up being my anchor/referral client for years.  I feng shui-ed her home and she referred many people to me.  It was my sign from the universe that I had made the right move.  Interestingly, she was an MD.  I worked in the medical device industry for about 20 yrs.  There was no connection with her to my old companies… she just called me out of the blue.

Belinda’s Feng Shui Space Clearing Kit

When I began my  feng shui practice 17 yrs. ago I did not imagine a good part of it would have to do with clearing spaces of stagnant space clearingenergy.  Since I was already doing energy work with Reiki, it was a natural fit.

While Energetic Space Clearing is not Feng Shui, it compliments it beautifully.  Everything is made of energy.  Just read Einstein’s work.  This includes our thoughts and emotions.  Emotions can get stuck in walls especially if you live in a space where there has been sadness, grief, anger, resentments, hatred, abuse, etc.  You can buy a new home where someone lived for years and experienced some of those experiences.  You go in with excitement and new beginnings and somewhere things never quite feel right.

If a person filed for bankruptcy and you buy their home, you also inherit the energy of that situation.  Usually during financial loss there has previously been frustration, depression, etc.  This must be cleared for you to experience success living there.  I have been to people’s homes or businesses who were failing financially and when I asked about the previous owners, they had all foreclosed or filed bankruptcy.  Once we cleared the space, they flourished. It is amazing work.

Some of the Reasons Clients call me for Space Clearings:

Buying a new home

Buying a foreclosed property

Selling a home

Experiencing negative energies in their space and want to be free of it.  Can’t sleep.  Children see things.  Dogs bark at unseen things in the house.

Buying or moving into a business that previously failed

If this all sounds too “woo woo” to you, just think about going into a business or a person’s home and it feels yucky.  It could look nice but just feel off.  You could also go into another one and it feel great.  You don’t really know why but you have the feeling.

After Clearings clients report selling their houses faster, living more peacefully in their homes, or their business suddenly taking off.  Read some testimonials on our website.  www.designforenergy.com

Space Clearing is like spring cleaning your home. When you spring clean you get rid of dirt, clutter, dust, etc.  You might freshen your space after with a spray of lemon water or other essential oil.  The space feels totally different, fresh, and new.

Space Clearing is the same only done energetically.  I would like to share some tips so that you can do a clearing on your space.   These tips are for the garden variety stuck feelings in a space.  If you feel there are spirits, entities, or bad energy like from a divorce, illness, etc.  hire a professional.  I can’t tell you how many challenging spaces I clear where someone said they had already done it.  It was not clear!

When choosing a Professional make sure they have training in space clearing, not just read a book or attended a weekend seminar.  Space Clearers study with masters for years and the good ones also are energy workers, shamans, or spiritual teachers.  Ask how long they have doing the work and what types of results they have?  Make sure they explain the process that they will be doing for you.  Get references.  The last thing you need is someone waving sage around irritating spirits then leaving.  😦

Here is my process and I am offering it to you at no charge.  On the Internet I see where people are offering the info. and charging for it.  I would like to offer it to you as a gift.  Space Clearing Services can range from $100 to 500.00 depending on the size of space.  Corporate Spaces cost much more.  When you see the process below, you’ll see why?

So for your home or office, here are some things you can do to Clear Energy and Create a More Sacred and Peaceful Space:

First you need the right tools:  We use sacred tools to remove the energy.Space Clearing Sage

Sage (Native American herb), bells, incense, candles, drumming or toning or chanting music, prayers, affirmations, essential oils (frankincense and lavender work well).

*Remember the tips I am offering are for your garden variety clearings, not anything you feel is harmful or challenging.  You need a professional for those cases.  Always ask.  I often have clients who call me do it themselves if I know they are comfortable and the situation is mild.  I have extensive energy work experience where  I am able to protect myself more than someone else.

Space Clearing can or should be done once a quarter or whenever you feel your space is stagnant.  Sometimes you have an event or people working in your home to do remodeling.  They might bring in some unpleasant energies if they argue or have any issues.  Maybe you or someone in your home was sick for awhile and you want a healthier feel to the place.  You might also want to restore some sacredness.

Prepare Your Space:  Very Important

Put away any food items that are not covered including dog food

Remove pets and children during the clearing

Make sure you are not sick or coming down with something

Open up doors and windows; Leave ceiling fans on

Set up a clearing table with candles, fresh flowers, incense, affirmations or Intentions (like an altar)

Begin to Clear:

Smudge yourself to put a protective shield around you.

State an Invocation.  This can be a prayer or statement asking for help with the clearing.

Ring bells throughout and especially in corners where energy collects.

Play drumming or chanting music while clearing.

Light sage and wave it around the space esp. in corners where energy collects.

Say any prayers or Intentions out loud into space.

Spray essential oils like frankincense, sandalwood for protection.  Lavender for peace and calming,  and eucalyptus or lemon oil for fresh beginnings.

Leave windows cracked for a couple of hours before closing everything up.

Place fresh flowers in the space to represent new beginnings.

Give Gratitude that it is done.

That is it!  Share these tips with friends but do not attempt a space clearing practice with it.  Get formal training if you want to be a practitioner. There is much more to this art than these tips.  Offering to help someone with a dark energy in their home with this packet alone might cause more problems.

With these tips Your space will feel fresher and be open for new beginnings.

Call us if you have any questions.  We offer Space Clearing, Blessing Ceremonies for Homes and Businesses, and Energy Work Classes along with our Feng Shui Services.
