Noodles                            represent long life if you do not cut them.

Dumplings                     represent money bags

Spring Rolls                    similar to gold bars (money)

Lettuce                              Cantonese word sounds like rising fortune

Oranges                             fruitful life of abundance

Rice Cakes                       sweetness in life

Long Leafy Greens and Long Beans            served whole to wish a long life for parents.

Fish and chicken  represent happiness and prosperity esp. when served whole.

Clams                                    resemblance to buillon so means money

Duck                                       Fidelity

Eggs                                         Fertility

Bean curd or tofu, however, is avoided because its white color suggests death and misfortune.
